Git hosting

Private Git repositories for developers and organizations, and how to clone and sign in.

phreak.space runs a private Git server. There are two ways to get a repository.

  • Organizations. Every organization with Git hosting has one private repository named code. All members of the organization can use it. Owners and admins have full control, and other members have write access.
  • Developer add-on. A single member can subscribe to the Managed Git repo add-on. It gives a private repository named code under your username. It works with any member plan.

Using your repository

Open Git Repo in the member menu, or Repositories in an organization console. The page shows how to clone with SSH and with HTTPS. It also shows whether the repository is ready. A new one usually takes under a minute to set up.

  • SSH. Add your public key on your Profile page. It is copied to the Git server within a minute. The page shows the clone address and the port to use.
  • HTTPS. Members do not have a Git password. Open Gitea with the Open Gitea button, then go to Settings, then Applications, and make an access token. Use the token as the password.
  • Open Gitea. The button signs you in to the Git website with your phreak.space account, for browsing, issues and pull requests.

One repository only

Each developer account and each organization has exactly one repository, created by the site. You cannot make extra ones.

If the add-on ends

If you stop paying for the add-on, your repository is made read-only and kept. It comes back when you subscribe again. The same happens to an organization's repository if the organization is suspended.

If it shows an error

An error state is retried automatically. If it stays that way, send a support ticket if you are a paid member.

Note

Content pushed to a repository does not go through the same image checks as uploads on the website.

Still stuck? Paid members can ask the support assistant or send a ticket from their account. Everyone can use the DMCA form for copyright notices.
