Direct messages and blocking

Any member can message any other member. Open Direct Msgs in the member menu.

Starting a conversation

Type the other person's username into the box at the top and press New. Each pair of members has one conversation.

You can start a limited number of new conversations a day. If you reach the limit, try again tomorrow.

Writing

Type in the message box and press Send. Messages are plain text and can be up to 4000 characters. Unread messages show a count next to the conversation.

Blocking

Open a conversation and press block. A block works in both directions, so neither of you can message the other. Nobody is told who blocked whom. Press blocked members in the left panel to see your list and unblock someone.

Reporting

Press the report link on a message someone else sent you and choose a reason. A moderator then sees a copy of that message.

Encryption

Where both people have an encrypted vault, a conversation can be end-to-end encrypted. See the guide on encrypted chat.

Messages from Support

If you are a paid member and a support ticket gets a reply, you get a direct message from the account named support. You cannot reply to that account here. Reply on the ticket page. See the guide on support.
