Uploading and sharing files

How to upload, what happens next, and how to share a file with other members.

How to upload

  1. Open File Host. You need a Pro account to host files.
  2. Optionally open a folder first, so the file lands there.
  3. Choose your file and press Upload. Wait for the progress bar to finish. Do not close the page until it does.

If an upload fails part-way, start it again.

Sharing a file

Every file has a Copy link button. The link opens the file's page. Your files are shared with members only: the person you send the link to must be logged in to download. They can sign up free.

Only the founder account can make files fully public.

What the person you share with sees

On the file page, the downloader presses the download button. Free accounts wait 20 seconds first and get a limited speed. Pro accounts do not wait. You, the owner, always download your own files at full speed and with no wait.

A download link made for someone is valid for a short while, 60 minutes by default. If it has expired, start again from the file page.

Rules

You must have the right to share what you upload. Images are checked against a list of known bad material, and uploads from some network addresses, such as VPN addresses, are refused. See the upload rules guide.

Taking a file down

Delete the file from File Host and the link stops working. If somebody believes a file breaks their copyright, they can use the DMCA form. See the guide on reporting and DMCA.

Still stuck? Paid members can ask the support assistant or send a ticket from their account. Everyone can use the DMCA form for copyright notices.
